100th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
What happened in 1912?
The Republic of China was established, the Scout Association was formed
by Royal Charter, Captain Robert Scott’s Antarctic Expedition failed to
survive after reaching the South Pole, RMS Titanic sunk but most importantly
GEORGE ARGENT was born on 28th January 1912.
The PGM John Michael Webb and several Trustees of the Association of
Friends of PEDOKC were present at Stisted Hall to celebrate George’s 100th
Birthday, with many of his family and George’s fellow Residents.
He was Initiated into Joshua Nunn Lodge No. 2154 in 1948 and was WM
in 1970. He still regularly attends the meetings of his Mother Lodge.
The PGM spoke in glowing terms of George’s life and particularly his
contribution to Freemasonry in Essex. He promoted George to PPJGW and presented
him with the certificate and jewel of the Distinguished Service Medal to
Essex Freemasonry.
The Association of Friends of PEDOKC presented George with some
of his favourite things pipe tobacco and sherry, which had obviously contributed
to his long life.
